Description
This is a beautiful old piece! I purchased it from an estate sale of the late Mary Francis Berrier. Mrs Berrier was a well know antique collector from near the Winston Salem area of NC. She loved good primitive pieces like this and many of her things came from Old Salem and other early settlements nearby. I don’t know exactly where this came from but I do know it’s seen it’s share of action. Ive had it in my own collection for several years now so there’s no telling how old it is. It”s handmade, carved from a single piece of wood, 15'' Long and has a large crack all along and down one side of it. The crack is chipped out in a large area. It also has some smaller cracks in the ends. The rest of the surface is slightly dirty with an occasional stain. There is still white biscuit flour in the cracks and crevices from the last time it was used and I never I never tried to clean it because it adds to the authenticity of it. It’s seen it’s share of pies, biscuits and dumplings I’m sure and has the scars to prove it!
