    Description

Beautiful, life-sized pair of Canada geese decoys, evaluated as being hand carved and painted by famous artist, carver, conservationist and hunter, Hank Walker’s son Geof in Newbury, Massachusetts between 1984 and 1986. Carrying a fine New England tradition of hand carving, hand painting and primitive wood construction, Hank Walker decoys are prized as highly valued and collectible art, made by Hank and Geof from 1969 - present (although Hank passed away in 1996).
This pair is in very good condition. They have no scratches or marks, no breakage. The nodding goose has some lengthwise cracking of the wood along the grain down its back. I have placed both decoys into a controlled, humid environment to rehydrate the wood and recommend that they continue to be cared for in this way to preserve them for years to come. Both have the lead nameplate on the bottom attached with 200-year-old “ham & egg” nails that reads, “Hank Walker, Newbury, Mass.”
