Martin “Music Man” Alto Saxophone. Plays Great!

$ 580.79

Description

Up for auction here is a Martin “Music Man” Alto Saxophone.
This is a rare version of the Martin Committee III series in the original lacquer. The serial number of the body is #218746 making it from 1962. The neck is an original Martin Comm III model however not the original neck to this horn. The serial no. on the neck is #208128 dating it to 1959. I just had the neck recorked by my repairman. This alto sax plays great throughout. Pads are newer and in great shape and have domed metal resonators 👍As you can see from the pics this sax has very nice engravings but does have some scratches and areas or lacquer loss. There are some dents on the bottom of this alto including one main dent in the middle. These don’t affect the playability and could be removed by someone who knows what they are doing. Included with the saxophone is a Jakob Winter case. I just noticed it does have some tape on the case but this is exactly how I got it years ago and the case is in otherwise nice condition. Also has the original adjustable sliding thumb rest.
This alto is not a typical “committee III” series. This is an “Official Music Man Model” which was only produced for a few years (1961-1963) when “The Music Man” movie came out starring Robert Preston. You can see the special engraving on the lower portion of the bell. It is one of the rarest series of Martin saxophones and is said to have better intonation than the standard Comm. III series. The bell also has the RMC shield engraving from when Richards Music Company bought out Martin in 1961. RMC stands for “Roundtable of Music Craftsmen”
There is a newer pad saver included with this alto. No other accessories are included in this auction. This sax will be carefully packed with bubble wrap throughout.
